The Devon and Cornwall Longwools are one of our rarest Devon breeds yet their ancestors were the sheep who underpinned Devon's prosperous wool trade in the 1700's.
The fleece is a heavy weight with one sheep carrying up to 10kgs. Like the Dartmoor it has a long and strong staple and the lambs are born with an inch of the curls they'll carry for life making them very cute additions to the lambing field.
The fleece is more like hair, can be coarse and is spinnable alone, maybe cut to make a more easy to use fibre, and in a mix brings brilliant lustre to any product as well as its inherent strength. It is good in weaving and needle felting as well as a natural source of very long dolls hair.
