Washed Devon Closewool

Devon Closewools are the quiet Devon sheep. Everyone is raising the profile of the Dartmoor Breeds and the Longwools but the Devon Closewool seems to just sit quietly in the background waiting its turn.

Aaran discovered this wonderful breed in an old farm near Hatherleigh, bought some ewes and a ram and decided he would focus on raising its profile. 

Small and stocky the Closewools grow a fine to medium bouncy fleece with a staple lenth of up to 4 inches. It has a fantastic small and even crimp. It is lustrous and an easy spin creating either thick or thin yarns that are light and full of air.  Aaran has washed this fleece traditionally in a suint for you with some help from his elders. The clean fleece is a wonderful creamy white, will absorb dye well and is great for felting.
