Sweet Things

This could well be a post about chocolate - it isn't but it's really as good.

A way down at the very end of Devon is a farm that is actually straddles Cornwall but has a Devon postcode. It's a generational farm farming cows and award winning sheep mainly Texel's, Roussin's, Black Welsh Mountains, some cross breeds and quite possibly the most amazing Romney's to ever walk this earth.

These sheep in a little corner of our world shepherded by Nic and her Dad produce a fleece that is the chocolate of the fleece world. It's total woolly goodness with legs and yes, whilst there is some that oozes rich chocolatey brown, there is some that is all shades of grey - read lavender - black or creamy white, some sheep are multi coloured dipping in and out along the crimp - the rest are one or the other.

And lets talk about that crimp. This is 1980's crimped disco hair in the extreme. This is the finest of sheep corrugation. It is the complete length of the staple, its even and it's a joy to spin for beginners whilst for colourists it's a playtime of a woolly cloud.

In case you haven't guessed we love this fleece and it will be in the shop tomorrow along with the same but in lambswool and the Black Welsh Mountain. We've also popped a little in our Dartmoor Tweed Explore Wool Boxes - let us know what you think if get this super little treat in your woolly package.
